A Next.js company website, plus extensions to an inherited admin.

  • Inherited CMS

The problem

A company needed a structured public website, and its existing admin needed new content types and workflows.

What I did

  • Next.js service, industry and editorial pages.
  • React admin and Express/MongoDB content-management extensions.
  • Content taxonomies, hiring and enquiry workflows.

Decisions

  1. Extend, don’t replace

Taxonomies, hiring and enquiry workflows were added to the inherited admin rather than rebuilding it.

Boundaries

The website and selected extensions were mine; the CMS platform was inherited. In the archived version, the Next.js site used bundled content and the admin connected separately to Express and MongoDB — not a connected headless CMS.
